Went shopping at Wal-mart last night for Valentine goodies, checked out, got my change and put it in my pocket. Got home threw it on the dresser. Noticed there was 3 nasty looking cents, took a closer look and thought I had got a wheatie. Then I thought maybe a foreign coin, kinda looked like an old Canadian cent. Turns out it's an IHC. 1896 I think. Trust me when I say the pics make it look a hell of a lot better than it does in your hand. I had to get out the mag. glass and a under a good light before I could even tell what is was. The obverse is barely there and unless the light is just right you can't make out the details and the back is basically covered in green patina. Still tho, 110 year oldcoin still in circulation, pretty cool. Beats the 1917 I found a couple years back as my oldest circulation find and I assume it will remain that way. Oh yeah, the 1974 and 1969 don't look as good as the pics either. Mattman
good greif and still circulating  I wonder who has handled that since it was 1st minted LOL if only coins could talk De Orc
Thats a pretty amazing find for circulation. Maybe a fellow collector put it back into circulation to give someone else a pleasant suprise.
