Now I just need the dime and half dime...I expect I’ll be waiting awhile for the right ones to surface.

    *Edited to crop.

Nice. Even the facial expressions have a different look.

I'm building the same set. Currently needing the quarter... one that matches that I'm happy with. What grade is your Quarter? VF25?

Yeah your set is phenomenal. I didn’t set out to build it, they just happened to cross my path at different times and I liked them each for their own reasons. The quarter is a VF30, the half VF35 and the dollar VG8. I like the quarter the most, has really nice luster for the grade.

I’ll keep my eye out for your quarter and let you know if I see anything, it took me awhile to find an example that was all there for that type.

    VERY nice group of coins.

I've got some for my type set:
    25-1806-VF35-CAC
    50-1806-XF40
    50-1807-50_20-VF30
    100-1795-VF30
    100-1800-VF25

As for the half dime and dime:
    ½ 10-1797-15st-VF30
    ½ 10-1800-VF20
    10-1805 4Berries JR2 VF30

I've been DYING to find a VF35 CAC draped quarter.

When I looked at my images I remembered who I bought this from.
And I remembered deciding that the "skipped" toning was the result of something that was on the coin early on (glue?) and removed later.

I have the dime and half dime. Both vf35. The dime is CACd. The half dime has some light obverse hairlines. Not bad enough to preclude it from grading, but it'll never CAC.

Well, your half is better than mine. I need to see if mine will CAC. Gonna send an order in a few weeks probably if you have any.

Just incredible coins. I was actually just looking at mine after looking back at your set and thinking of how much I hate my images of them. Lol. Doesn’t show the luster but I love how these early circulated pieces look in natural light and need to find a way to photo them individually with a more natural look like you have captured.

Here’s a no frills window sill cell shot:

Ya know I picked up that half last week at an LCS for 50 over grey sheet. Not sure what they were thinking but I didn’t stop to ask why.

I want your quarter and half. You want my dime probably.... between the two of us we'd have a bad@zz set. There just aren't enough nice, CAC-worthy coins for sale out there.

The quarter is the best coin of the three. It is really nice. You might upgrade the dollar one day. Believe it or not, but the dollar is fairly easy to find in attractive VF condition. It’s expensive because many collectors like them because they are large.

The half dime is small, but it’s “the big bear.” All of those little coins are scarce, and often prone to damage which causes them to get less than straight grades. As a collector, I saw my first one when I was a junior in college. The most common Draped Bust, Heraldic Eagle type coin dates are the 1800 followed by the 1803. The most common date in the early half dime series (1792 to 1805) is the 1795, which tells you something. Usually the pre 1800 dates are the toughest.

I will post my coins, but I won’t do it here. Some people accuse me of upstaging. I have loved these coins for almost all of my life as a collector and made a point of acquiring them when I landed my first job out of college. Since then I have collected the half dimes and the dollars by date and major variety.

    I understand that position.
I'm sure that I've been accused of upstaging.
But I didn't buy my coins to hide them away.
I'm proud of what I've collected and I like to show them.

Most of them I can't easily look at; they are in a safe deposit box in a bank.
Like that quarter I posted in this thread.
I had totally forgotten about its toning anomaly.

Agreed on the quarter, looks nicer in hand too. The dollar I was just happy to find an example I could afford that wasn’t cleaned or damaged but I plan to upgrade to something higher grade with a better strike someday. For now it’s just fun to own a big old piece of 18th century silver. :)

Nice progress and you're over half way there (at least mathematically). :D
