With over 800 million minted at Philly and another 800 million at Denver, they were one of the highest mintage issues out there, up until the state quarters. And with the different reverse, they were saved in great quantities in mint state condition. So to answer your question, unfortunately, no - nothing special.
Yeah..... Mountains of these were produced. The mint struck them for two years. I was a coin crazy kid when they came out and it does my heart good to see folks paying attention to them now.... But these won't ever be worth more than a quarter each.
75 cents, as mentioned. Circulated examples just aren't worth anything over face value, and are unlikely to be, for a very long time, due to the enormous quantity issued. Some folks hoard 'em anyway. If that floats your boat, there's no harm in it.
These were hoarded back in the day. There are many nice looking bicentenials on the market and in circulation today. Now the DDO, is definitely a keeper!
