Yes, I know that... I'm asking before I have many old and foreign coins that I don't what size of window they would fit in best... so to order the good amount of holders I'd need to know... I'll search a bit further if nobody knows I guess.. Thanks Max
The openings are designed to fit US 1, 5, 10, 25 and 50 cent coins, and both sizes of $1 coins, so if you measure those coins you'll have the maximum sizes that each 2x2 size will hold.

I would suggest you just buy a box of 100 of each size of 2x2's. Don't mix sizes like the 1 1/2, 2 and 2 1/2 unless you have to. Many dealers sell large Red or Black boxes made for 2x2's that have two rows and each side would probably hold well over 50 to 100 depending on how loosely you want them. A long time ago I bought aout 500 of each size of 2x2. True there are, and I have some coins that are to big, but then they just go in a plastic holder. I've got thousands of foreign coins in these 2x2's now. I just put them in the nearest size that fits. I've never heard a complaint from a coin yet that a 2x2 is to small or something. If you buy a large quantity there is usually a great discount and if your young enough you can use them for many, many years.
Thanks for the input, I'll consider this... And yes, I'm a young enough collector. But before I buy, I'll wait to give up on the search for a place where they sell all size this side of the ocean... Max
Until you have the foriegn coins so I know which ones they are, I don't know how to answer your question because they all come in various sizes too. And if you don't have a Krause catalog to look them up and get the sizes you can do this instead. Click Here and print the chart out. Then you can see what size the coins are when you get them so you will know what size holder to get.
Or I can just measure them... Just as an example.. I have some Tibetan shos and skars, some of them are 29¼ mm .. They certainly don't fit US Small Dollar holders and if I put em in US Large Dollar holders, they'll be 1 cm loose! Another easy example are the old canadian 5 cents. They are 15.5 mm in diameter... They would better be in 17.5 mm with 2 mm spacing than in 20 mm (1 cent) where they would be like almost the third of the coin loose... But well, this is just my opinion... I think a collection in holders would look better if the window of the holders were not more than 2 mm larger than the coins. Pure aesthetical matters, I agree... :whistle: Max
