Hello - Just finished searching 2 boxes of half dollars that I picked up from the bank yesterday afternoon. This is my first time ever searching half dollars, with my 13 year old daughters help, and I had fun even though didn't find a ton. Frankly I didn't expect to find any. Found 3 -1968 - 40% halves & 1 - 1964 - 90%, which happens to be in beautiful condition Looking forward to ordering more than 2 boxes come Friday. This is fun
The best part is you spent time with your kid. I hope mine will search with me when old enough. My wifes 17 yo could care less. I even told him I'd buy his silver found at spot and front him $1000 to get boxes, still not interested, oh well. HOTN
Awww, that really stinks . I know all to well the frustration associated with teenagers :headbang:, LoL. I have a 17 yo girl as well as the 13 yo. Thankfully they were both raised around crafts & hobbies, which I'm sure helps. However, there have been some things that I couldn't coax them into participating in. Can't remember exactly what off hand, but it was real similar to your situation. One of those where they could only profit by participation, so I feel your pain Raise your lil one around the coins, let them watch you until they are old enough to help, which is usually only 3 or 4. The age that you don't have to worry about them eating them, lol. If you do they will love it too. Best of luck to you
I bought $1000 in halve and not a single silver, but I find them all the time at the banks. I think the machine that rolls them must pick out the silver. I did find a few proofs and completed my kennedy collection.
My 8 year old daughter is the coin searching fiend - the only thing I don't like about her searching rolls is she pilfers the finds and keeps them. Little snot found 2 1919 nickels when we busted a box a few months ago, and they found their way into her "penny book" along with all her other treasures she appropriated from me. My older daughters will search for coins if I pay them, but why bother.
I have searched quite a few half boxes and haven't really come up with any good ones yet. I found about 10 different markings from other CRH in there so I guess someone else is already cutting them.
