I'm guessing by your name that you like early Lincolns...

So how about a nice chocolate brown 1909-S Lincoln certified as AU55 to AU58???? I'm guessing $250 will get you one somewhere.

Collect what you like, not what someone else likes. Put the money towards a set that you are working on. If you aren't working on any sets, perhaps buy a book or two and see if something is interesting to you.

A person doesn't have to do complete date/mintmark sets of an entire series. There are type sets, short sets, themed sets, and many other ways to collect.

If you are more the kind of person to just buy something that looks cool when you have money in your pocket, by all means go for that, and see how far that $250 will travel on the coolness scale at your favorite dealer(s) or website(s).

Yep - what kind of sets are you working on? As far as I am concerned anything 1836 or before is a candidate. So depending on what you like and need we can make recommendations, but you need to make the final selection.
