I was brousing the U.S.Mint website today and clicked on PressRoom - Image Library. Under this section is a section called circulating coins. Under circulating coins is listed a "22-Karat Gold Proof Sacagawea Dollar Coin". Now I don't think the mint would make a proof circulating coin-- so that's kind of funny. Anyway, I never heard of them actually selling them. I looked at the picture and it shows a 2000 date with a "W" mint mark. I've been collecting since 1960 and never remember seeing any such coin in 22-Karat Gold. I take the Grey Sheet and it doesn't list any made that I see. :hammer:Did I miss something? Does anyone know anything about this.

I'm familiar with the "Golden Dollar" which is not gold, but this specifically states 22-Karat Gold Proof and has a picture.

They were struck not for sale but for display to promote the use of the dollar.

They struck 39, and destroyed 27, leaving only the "best" dozen.
