okay, in 1920, a 20th century type set would have a dollar, two halves, two quarters, two dimes, two nickels and two pennies. In 2020 (assuming that we don't get blown up), the 21st century set will have at minimum a half dollar, dime, six pennies, six nickels, sixty+ quarters, 45+ small dollars and a silver bullion dollar. Assuming this were your seven-year-old kid or grandkid who wanted to start a type set, what would you advise he/she do in order to get one cheaply? I know people have been arguing about whether to add a 1913 buffalo on mound nickel, and if that small thing is considered a "type" what about a michigan or Azuza national park quarter?
I would advise him that ONE Presidential Dollar and ONE State Quarter suffice for a Presidential Dollar and a State Quarter type coin. And I would advise him that the American Silver Eagle is not a coin (it is bullion) and is not needed for a type set.
