I am not sure what to take from the Troll posed above?
Are you directing that at me?

I kind of like the obverse toning.

I also think it is AT. Look at the letters on the reverse, and notice the color difference of say the "E" in STATES and all of God where most likely bubbles of air prevented the colorant from getting into the crevices, which if was gaseous over the years, no problems. Rather ugly in the photo also.

I will chalk it up to learning,
    It only cost me 26$

I agree with the others that it looks AT.
However, at $26 you can break even or make a bit by listing it on ebay for $40-$50. My guess is that someone will still like the look.

I like the look too. Would be great for a "Spooky Halloween Coin" thread. :D

No offense was meant. I am not a fan of the toning (looks AT to me), but some would call it "Monster Toned." I decided to combine the two and added the troll thing to show that I was being sarcastic. :)

No chance that is naturally toned. Looks like a coin doctoring experiment gone horribly wrong. Chemical reaction or heat.

You might try a very dilute dip and dip and rinse repetitively until you get color you like. Or you may reveal tiny corrosion pits the deep near black toning hides, always a downside to every decision :)

This reminds me of coins I see on ebay many times listed as "UNC to my knowledge". The coins in hand appear to have a light nickel plating then AT to mask the plating, but the toning is always too shiny and the colors just don't mix well or look natural.

I say list on Ebay for a 7 day auction and you have a good chance of doubling or tripling your money.

You need better photos though and lighten the reverse colors a tad.

    The colors are that dark.
And I have no plans of pawning this off to anyone else.
Itt'l hang out with the other Au Bu morgans.

I don't know if the toning is artificial or not but whatever the case I like it. It's a neat looking coin (especially for $26).

So long as you like it I say it was a great buy :)

Yeah, but I picked it up as a .gif. There are some things in life for which it's the only answer. :)

As for the coin here, knowing 1921's I would not be surprised if it were NT.

I'm pretty sure someone who might actually enjoy it could be a buyer. If you do sell, just make sure to clearly state in the description that the toning is questionable or artificial.
