I have some interesting queries regarding the 20th anniversary silver eagle set. First I wonder if there are some possible shennagians between dealers and NCG? In regards that the sellers are offering "MS69" coins that haven't even been graded by NGC and returned to the dealer. I understand that many people have already started receiving their sets from the mint and find it interesting that the Coin Vault program has so many to sell that have already been slabbed and graded by NGC. Other than using the more expensive rapid services that NGC offers these things are showing up super rapidly on Coin Vault! I realize that the mint had a 10 per customer limit so how is it that the Coin Vault already has so many to sell since many of us have not received our orders? I placed my order (5 sets) at 1:07 P.M. on release day and not gotten it yet. I wonder what the exact date is that the mint first started mailing out these sets? Wondering when the FIRST STRIKE cut off date will be for the grading companies? I wonder if NGC will slab the set in a 3 coin holder set like this one? I would prefer to keep the set together in one holder.

I think you've already answered one of your own questions Silver Striker. All they have to do is use the one day grading service with overnight delivery both ways and they would easily have the coins to sell. And as for how they get so many so fast, that's easy too. Just have their employees order the coins, max limit for each.
Silver Striker, That is odd that you do not have your coins yet. I ordered two sets on release day and received them probably two weeks ago. I noticed others posted that they had received their orders before I received mine, but I am not sure when they placed their orders. I placed my order approximately ten minutes after they went on sale. Have you called the mint customer service to see what could be the hold up? I am really bummed because I placed my ASE order on the first day, but waited until after the AGE set was announced as a sell out on the second day to place that order and now am waiting to see what will happen. I really did not think the AGE would sell out so quickly, just as I am surprised that the ASE has not sold out yet. Dragon
one thing i find so curious about this situation is how scarces the ms70 and pr70 are reported to be in the silver coins you can see the pr70 and ms70 all over the web at different years at prices way way below the multi thousands they are trying to charge for the silver coins in the SAE and the two piece gold and silver . When one thinks, buy coins from the secoundary souce , is much like buying at a auction. A feeding frenzy seems to be in process. speaking of in process my AGE is in process and has been so for months. expected to ship 11/06, would like to get some more silver sets but my credit card is maxed out till the gold set is settled one way or another ......as far as there endless supply it seems, the coin country sold out in about 30 minutes 100 sets at $329 that they got from a "supplier". reported that they were on the phone to another "supplier" trying to get some more for monday nights show. They would do their best to keep the prices current, but have already heard they had gone up substantially. I am not sure about this, but do not think any of the anniversay sets will be designated "first strikes" .If they were good old chambers would have been all over it
I just got home from work at about 1 AM today and to my surprize, I found my 5 sets had arrived. Also of note is that I received an e-mail from the mint earlier on during the day stating that they had just been mailed. That e-mail is time stamped Oct 30, 2006 6:45 PM. I asked my nephew who accepted the package and he said that it arrived at 11AM. GO FIGURE? Maybe I have another 5 coming!!!! NO!!!!!!!:goofer:
all of my orders since june have arived the same day that i get the email that my order has been shipped. i like this better than getting the e-mail and waiting a week or so for the order to arive. now i know that my order is at home when i get the e-mail and i have somthing to look forward to.
I ordered mine online on September 4th and my status still says: 5 units backordered. Expected to ship on 12/08/2006.
Ok now that I've read the fine print from NGC it looks like I cannot even send in one of my 5 sets for the 20th Anniversary LOGO! I opened up my box of 5 to look at one of the sets. Magnificent set! I understand their reasoning I guess for the unopened shipping containers from the mint but OH WELL. I didn't want 5 sets slabbed anyway. So hopefully my order for 3 sets and 2 sets I just ordered (BACKORDERED) will be received if they haven't already sold out and are just taking orders for any that might be cancelled. We'll see. I've sent an e-mail to the person who is in charge at NGC for the multi-coin holders and will see if they can accomodate my request to place sets in multi-coin holders. I will be sending a set to ANACS for individual holders but their web site shows nothing special for these sets as of yet, but will wait until I get more information from them. What a frenzy of selling prices for these on e-bay. $2000.00+ for an NGC PF/MS 70 set!
that is cheap compared to some i have seen silver. have seen them for 4.8k to 7k in places. seems they are jumping the gun big time. apparently most of the set have not even been received yet. How can one really know how many will be certified in the 70 grade
If I we're to send a set into PCGS to be graded, should I crack them open and put them in mylar flips? Or do I leave them in the original packaging.
As to your question on the multi-coin holder: Yes, they will put the ASE set in a multi coin holder for you, you can even specify which order you want them to be in. I want mine to be (from left to right) MS, Rev. Proof, Proof. You can even draw them a little picture of how you want them slabbed
would you want them in a muti-holder if they did not grade the same. Sorry i am new to this and expect to receive some of these sets and at this point not sure what to do . thanks
I would like to ask your opinion. what is your position on the blue lable ase and the black lable ase being the same coin ? Are they of the same value ?
Yes. I am not so extra interested in grading as to place them in a holder that can be handled and looked at easily. The current mint packaging while nice, I'd prefer something else, for everyone to look at and handle.
ordered 4 more ASE sets on 11/02, they are not a sell out yet. Only had to call them twice this time to get my order right (I think) . my AGE ship date was pushed to 11/27. These are the only items i have ever ordered from the mint and I must add it has not been a pleasant one but have learned a lot regardless of the outcome. Found coin talk.
I have no idea why the different label colors. These pictures probably won't last long but here they are (linked from their auctions) BLACK LABEL BLUE LABEL
BTW, still no reply to my e-mail. Maybe they are on vacation or just too back logged to reply right now.
NGC grading services put the following color distinction on the graded coins, blue lable is for the 2 piece silver / gold set, the black lable is from the 3 piece set.
