2026 Coinage

The CCAC has recommended deign 1 for both the Lincoln cent and Jefferson nickel. Because a sesquicentennial only happens once, I am wondering if the Mint would consider changing the cent to a 1 year only pure copper composition as well as the Philadelphia & Denver minted Kennedy halves along with the 'base' proof to a 40% silver composition. Opinions?

That’s an idea. Will the mint share the cost with us and have pure silver in other sets

 

It’s doubtful. They have rarely accepted advice in the past, why do you think they will listen now?…imo…Spark

I writes my congressman all the time trying to get commem half dollars produced in silver rather than cupro/nickel.........deaf ears.

 

Only Congress can make changes and approve designs for coins. The mint just does what Congress tells them to do.

 

Where are the nickel design pics?
