2022 Secret Saturnalia

    Last Wednesday I received an envelope from abroad. ( Canada )
    Always exciting, especially when it is a Secret Saturnalia gift. ( my first )
    Opened yesterday and these interesting beauties came out.

    Roman provincial- Lydia
    Severus Alexander A.D. 222
    Thyateira mint
    Bareheaded, draped and cuirassed bust right
    Satyr advancing left, holding grape bunch and lagobolon over shoulder.

    Roman Client Kingdom - Judea
    Herod II Archelaus, 4 B.C. - 6 A.D.
    Prutah, Jerusalem mint
    obv: Tall helmed with crest end cheek straps viewed from front, caduccus below
    rev: bunch of grapes on vine with small leaf on the left

    The last coin i have to look up.

    Thank you Secret Saturnalia, this is a nice addition to my "sub collection" of Roman provincial coins, which will be determined and described in 2023, after 40 years of collecting.
