A heartfelt THANK YOU to my Secret Santa - I know your name from the package and letter, but I'm not sure what your handle is here at CT, so I won't break your anonymity. I received two coins - first, this antoninianus of Gallienus. The reverse is the goddess Pax, or Peace. It's a very nice coin as they say, for the type. Quality control at the Rome mint went to hell during the Crisis of the Third Century, so any coin from this period that has good detail on both sides and an attractive patina is a keeper...

And you'll be happy to know that I DO in fact collect US coins, and the Peace Dollar is a personal favorite, so this 1922 is a welcome addition. (Were you aware that both coins had Peace as a theme?)

Merry Christmas to you and yours, and may 2022 bring you all the coins you desire for your collection! - John

A little about the Ken Hallenbeck token I received.

    Aluminum planchet
    Circa 1983
    Per Newman Numismatic Portal.

All that I have to say is WOW! This guy has a very Rich history in the coin business. 58 years of service to the ANA. First elected to the ANA board of Governers in 71' for 6 years, Curator of the ANA Money Museum in Co Springs from 77' to 83'.
ANA President from 89' to 91'.

Kens son Tom bought the Coin gallery (shop). It is still in business today, A family affair, Kids, Grandkids, Wifes, they all help out.
Might have to take a drive. It's about an hour and a half to two-hour drive from me.

Hoping as part of the wrap-up you can add some info to the 'US participation map'. How many total members were involved? How many were from each state?

Had too much happening yesterday to post so here is my first one...
    Secret Santa Woweee!
I only have two other ancients in my entire collection of nearly all U.S. coins so this is wonderful thank you! This is the kind of thing that could get me collecting a bit more of these, and so much excellent information as well.
And then this Mexico Olympic Games Silver is a new one for me and I loooove silver commemoratives!
Thank you for the Indian head penny as well...so much fun!

So grateful for two!! So here's the second one...
More Secret Santa Fantasticalness! I love it!

So here's a fun side note...Even though I collect almost exclusively U.S. coins I actually do have some Swedish coins in my collection. Because I lived in Sweden for a while when I was younger and my little brother was even born there :)
So I very much appreciate the mini Ore collection thank you!

Beautiful 2018 Voyageurs thank you! It's honestly one of my favorite from the America the Beautiful series.
I genuinely enjoy the presidential dollar series so that's great also thank you so much!
And there's always something special about those Indian head pennies isn't there?

I’m afraid if I said numbers by state, it would give away people who were the only ones in their state. I can say we had 52 gifts going all over the US. I’m afraid I won’t get back to my list until the new year, but I did post a map showing every state represented here:

It's about 45 minutes out of Co Springs. So 2 1/2 maybe 3 hrs.
There is a lot f things to see on the way.
Garden of the Gods, Manitou cliff dwellings/springs, Cave of the winds, Pikes Peak.
Might have to do that this summer, I have never fished the area.
Thanks for that now I have the song stuck in my head.
Up on Cripple Creek by "the Band" LOL

When I get off of this mountain
You know where I wanna go?
    Straight down the Mississippi River
    To the Gulf of Mexico
    To Lake Charles, Louisiana
Little Bessie, girl that I once knew
And she told me just to come on by
If there's anything she could do
Up on Cripple Creek, she sends me
If I spring a leak, she mends me
I don't have to speak, she defends me
A drunkard's dream if I ever did see one
    ...Lakewood/Denver area :p
Serious local tourist too (for almost 30 years) so if you're looking for suggestions in Colorado...

Opened my SS gift on Christmas morning but have been too busy to post until now. With all the coins that come across my desk, it’s rare to find something I have never seen before, but my SS delivered in the form of two beautiful British silver pieces. When I handed my son the Guinea, his immediate comment was, “ his feels like more than an ounce”..well, at 1.25 oz., he was spot on!
That one will go straight to his world crown collection. Thanks Secret Santa, whoever you are!

I have been back in Colorado for the better part of 30 yrs.
Moved out of state for a few of them.
I am wondering why @Seattlite86 brought up Cripple Creek?

A huge thanks to my secret santa!

We just got back home from our trip to Indiana last night, so I finally had some time to photograph these.

First, a postcard featuring Georgia's Gold with some Dahlonega mint coins:

A lovely gem French 50 centimes from 1922 that was previously part of the Lord Marcovan eclectic box (and I remember admiring this coin in his set):

And to top it off a pair of the 2019 and 2020 Lord Marcovan elongated cents. That's awesome because while nobody here probably knows this as I have a lot of side sets I don't talk about, I actually do have a significant collection of elongated cents. So these will fit in very nicely as centerpieces in my elongated cents collection.

An awesome job, thank you Santa!

I need to properly publish this article here, but this is why I brought up cripple creek. http://www.winsociety.org/newsletter/vol-7/A-Tale-of-Love-Tokens.html
I’d love to go see the casino I wrote about :) I once tried to contact them regarding this bracelet, but never got a response.

That's wild that the new owners didn't get back with you. You would think that an area so rich with history, would want an Item like that.
Perhaps it is only the profits that they are interested in.
    Too bad for them.

That's a great piece to the right buyer. Worth plenty above melt value.

I wasn’t able to connect with the owners. When I retire some years from now, I’ll put in a more concerted effort. This would be a great display in their casino. Anyway, apologies for hijacking my own thread, but I didn’t want to forget to ask.
