Why did you purchase a box of them? I assume you had planned to go through them, but are now having doubts. Personally, I would have never bought them in the first place, but it will give you something to do this year. LOL
I just finished searching a box looking for the strike thru error. Didn't find one. BUT, if you are interested in die cracks I did find many coins with die cracks. You may need a loupe or magnifying glass to see them clearly. Look for a die crack that comes from the rim thru the point of the left V of the W and on into Lincolns hair. Found 98 of them. Also there looks to be a die crack that starts on Lincolns brow almost in-line with the angle of his nose and extends a short distance and then turns north to the hair line, found 102 of these. Some coins displayed both cracks. (I also think I may have found a DD, but still evaluating it.) good luck.
Scratch around in a different litter box . I couldn't get cent rolls at my neighborhood branch, but was across town on the 29th of Dec. and noticed another branch of my bank that I don't frequent. Walked in & just asked the teller for coins as change for a twenty. Got 6 rolls of cents, 1 roll of quarters, a roll of nickels & a roll of dimes. I guess since I was an account holder they saw no problem with that small an amount.
A few months ago, Meow went to a bank and asked for $100 in quarters. Meow received 10 rolls of d mint crossing the Delawares. First ones Meow ever had in paw. So Meow asked for more, and was told no. Meow said please, but still no. Why not? Meow asked, no answer. So Meow drove to the next town and went to another branch of that bank. Meow asked for $300 in shiny new quarters please. The teller said ok, and pulled out a full bag of them. This bank does not use boxes, but uses heavy duty poly bags. She was about to cut open the bag when Meow said "Wait, Meow will take the whole thing." Meow told the teller that the other branch would not give Meow enough of them. She asked why they did not, and Meow told her Meow does not know, they would not say. So, Meow ended that day happy.
Its not like the bank lets you open them to see if what they’re giving you is new or circulated pennies you know and Loomis doesn’t mark the boxes new and uncirculated pennies. It’s happened to me before.
Obviously the second bank you went to dealt with handling change more seeing how they have bags. The first bank probably only sold change to small businesses and not personal customers with checking accounts that are just going to search through them. I know this because I have the same problem at the bank I have a checking account with. At first they let me order box’s of pennies and nickels. Then they told me they couldn’t anymore because Loomis would only supply them with enough to take care of there business customers and even some of them didn’t get all they wanted because of this coin shortage we’re supposedly having in the US. If you ask me I think there’s way to many collectors since the pandemic and a lot of them are hoarding box’s of coins and selling them for double the amount on eBay and other sites. Anyway a second bank in my town has no problem giving me box’s of pennies when I need them. Of course I only get a box at a time so I don’t have them tell me I’m getting way to many and that I can’t get anymore. No need to have more then one box at a time and I wouldn’t be surprised if this supposed coin shortage we are having continues for much longer that the feds will put a stop to people hoarding change or at least selling box’s of it on the internet.
Random ones.If you go on eBay and type box’s of pennies you’ll see 100 results and the lowest starts at $48 a box lol and people are actually buying them at double the price plus shipping. I just seen a box up for bid and it’s at $35 plus $15 for shipping. Crazy
I have the same issue with the pennies. Im tossing them back to the wild. Very thin crack. Seen them in alot of the ten rolls I searched
Search the 2021 for the retained cud w/ interior die break error. They r going for big money now almost all later die stages are going for 400+
I've been planning on going to my Credit Union to ask for a poly bag of cents off the coin counting machine at this point. I don't see why they wouldn't sell it to me except nobody wanting to take the bag off the machine and replace it,, but I know they do it as a free service, and they are paying the armored carrier a percentage to take the coin so you'd think I save them a couple bucks if I buy the bag.... I dunno. I'd prefer rolls and boxes, but at this point seems impossible, and the CU is my dump bank, Not sure how they'd feel about be taking them and dumping them a couple weeks later, but dang it. I need to hunt it's been dry except for a roll here or there since mid 2020. this not searching something is getting old.
Getting a brand new box is just a pain. And you have to dump all of it. When they start charging over face value for boxes and they will, it will be less worth the time, effort and value than it is now.
I feel you my box I’ve searched 10 rolls all the same 2 dies being used is all I’m finding sadly. So I’m sitting on them now
