After going through 10 rolls of OBW 2020-D dimes with a microscope (thanks to those of you who helped me identify a die chip as part of this search), I found two dimes that have very dark patinas for uncirculated OBW coins. They photographed darker than they appear in-hand but there's definitely a dark gray patina as viewed by-eye. I'm at a loss to explain what's going on here. I'd love to hear what you all think. Thanks in advance. 2020-D_Dime_Toned1_OBV.jpg 2020-D_Dime_Toned1_REV.jpg 2020-D_Dime_Toned2_OBV.jpg 2020-D_Dime_Toned2_REV.jpg

interesting, if the color comes through nicely in this photo it certainly is very attractive.

How about a image of the rim .
    Could be improperly annealed ...

Great point, I'll see if I can get a good shot of the rim...

Well, that was a challenging shot to get so apologies for the lack of photography skills. By eye, it looks mostly like a "normal" rim, I don't see anything different. @Rick Stachowski, your example looks very consistent with these when looking by-eye. Does this rim picture provide any confirmation? Thanks! 2020-D_Dime_Toned1_EDGE.jpg
