Possibly an attempt at spooning to make a ring?

Can you weigh it and tell me the weight?

Its weight is not necessary because it's obviously not a die/mint error, it's damage from spooning.

It doesn't look like damage from spooning to me. Note how the legend on the reverse is partially missing, but the legend on the obverse is almost completely visible.

There is no question that it is PMD, but could it be that the "outer ring" is a cut-out from a Zincoln, the rim of the dime was (crudely) removed and the Zincoln ring hammered in place?

Maybe my imagination is just getting the best of me!

    Plausible.
