Straight from the Mint--All is normal until I looked at the Philadelphia Lowell Quarter. I reordered to see if these would be any better than the first ones I received. I ordered on the first available day and while the strikes are great there were a number of minor problems. I do expect better for my money. Not as good a strike on the newest set but a nice error on the Quarter. I got the best pics I can but with that plastic over them it leaves a lot to be desired. Please notice the area above the word LIBERTY. Also another smaller one just above the last R in QUARTER. Hard) my to see in the photos but both appear to be a small strike through of a small piece of metal. The plastic on the Mint packaging is raised and it's definitely on the coins surface. This is not something under the plastic but a small piece of metal on the coins surface. It is actually embedded into the coin. Sorry but it's very difficult to get better photos. Comments please.
nice photos. Its so hard to get good ones through plastic. I havent bought 19 yet. Im going to wait until 20 comes out.
That stinks! Whatever it is/they are, it looks like toast to me. Baked or a hit right into the surface! I don't know what the return policy is. Haven't dealt with them in years!
Carbon spot on the Ike, if you dip, it will disappear for a few days then reappear! Can't get rid of it. Yeah its a gamble with sets from the mint, nowadays. Most sets I've received have 2 or 3 coins I would spend rather than keep. Bag marks, some abrasions, and just poor treatment in packing. How can they be reprimanded? I guess just keep returning, or quit supporting them, quit buying. Gary in Washington
I suppose if I were in theis for the money I'd care but that IKE is with me now and I find the error to be interesting for some dorky reason. I can guess its probably the only one like it. Plus, I dont think I could ever convince myself to remove a proof from its holder.
