I hate to be a pain but I'm on the road again. I just got this penny at a gas station and i noticed doubling on Date, God and Trust. I grabbed a couple quick pictures. I'm thinking machine doubling again but a blind squirrel finds an acorn every once in awhile
kind of looks like camera glare causing it to look funky. I noticed at least on the newer pennies I look at, I can almost get just the right angle and light to make it look like a pretty convincing DD....split serifs and all. Try to get a straight down photo without flash or glare and see what it looks like. Or, I am completely wrong and you just discovered a new one in which case SWEET!
What caught my eyes more than anything was the 9 on the date. Looks like there was something inside of the loop. Taking pictures on the armrest with a dome lights can be a challenge. Till I drive back to West Virginia tomorrow morning the best I can do is edit the pictures a little to take the glare out
Okay folks. I have given myself skull cramps time to figure out how to edit this post or even delete the pictures. But since I couldn't figure that out I did manage to get some better pictures before I took a little nap
the bright light is giving an impression of something there when there may not be. put a thin piece of paper or white fabric above the light to diffuse it. The 9 does look kinda fat ... but can't really tell. if you see any weird things around the inside rim going around then you can conclude die deterioration is taking its effect, and then anything else that looks odd related to DDD. I see ridge ring developing on both sides which tells you Die Deterioration is getting somewhat severe .. although the pics aren't the greatest.
I'm stuck using my phone camera. It has 8x Zoom. I tried using the back dome lights and holding the phone directly over the coins to shade it. I really appreciate your tips though. When I'm trying take pictures at home I always try to use a bright light to show more details. Evidently I have it Bass ackwards.
I made it home last night for just a little while. I did manage a few pictures in dim lighting. One lagst time
Look how different that looks now with some "differently" lit photos. The set you just attached are nice and offer an honest look.
