2019 Numismatic Predictions

New thread idea

I would like for members to make any numismatic or market predictions. If you have a prediction for something to happen and state your reason. I will put it in my personal calendar, check during that time if your prediction was correct and if it was, I will report back, here are a few examples:

- In (insert month or day here), 2019 a new example of the rare (insert rare coin here) will come to market

- In (insert month or day here), 2019 there will be a new price record for (insert rare coin here)

In January, there will be a giant coin show in Florida.

 

I predict a huge ANA coin fair in Philadelphia.. Mid August

I predict that The US Mint will continue to strike coins in 2019........

 

I predict @CoinBlazer will infect three new young collectors with numismatic fever in 2019.

 

I predict that a year from today, silver will still be within 50 cents of where it is now.

 

in 2019, a new example of the 1817/4 capped bust half dollar will surface.

I have four predictions this year regarding my favorite US coin series:

1) This 1823/2 quarter (B-1, R5+, PCGS VG8) sells for at least $50,000.

2) This original 1827/3/2 quarter (B-1, R7, PCGS PF65) sells for at least $350,000.

3) This restrike 1827/3/2 quarter (B-2, R6+, PCGS PF66) sells for at least $200,000.

4) These will be the only examples of these coins sold in 2019. The 1827/3/2 has the lowest mintage for a US quarter date (between originals and restrikes only a couple dozen were made, exclusively for collectors) and the 1823/2 likely has the second lowest mintage for a US quarter date (rarest date made for circulation; the Early United States Quarters book theorizes that 1,800 were made). Usually about one of each variety sells every year, so I’m predicting that the auction happening in a couple of weeks will take care of this year’s sales.

I predict that PCGS will continue being wishy-washy with the strictness of their standards

 

Demand for physical versions of Doge Coin will go to the moon after wall street declares Doge Coin equivalent components of "MUCH WOW" and adds them to the dow index.



The CT error room will see two thousand more error nicknames and/or clever thread titles invented for make believe errors bringing to the total to 17,392.

"Plus size" plus signs will be added to grades. They will be 20 percent larger than a regular plus sign to denote that the awesome coin displaying it is a much better plus grade but not better enough to merit two plus signs or a WOW or an !!!!!

 

New face at the top there now, guess we will have to wait and see. Someone's gotta' get their valuation up.
