Does anyone have a link? I am curious as to how this machine works/if it could possibly have any flaws. Does anyone have a link? Whoever programmed this thing must be a genius.

Basically it is a mass spectrometer with a comparison database of spectrums to compare with the results. There are some variations of this, but many references can be found by searching for "bomb sniffer" or similar as they are of similar nature. Interestingly, it is found that many diseases produce specific compounds not found in healthy people, so these are finding a place in medicine also. Certain cancers can be detected by prototypes with a very high success ratio.

See, you learn something everyday! Pretty interesting it can be used for diseases also, that I did not know.

It's a pretty common machine Jason that has been around for a long time. PCGS just had the idea to use it on coins to detect foreign substances on the surface of the coin. If memory serves, NGC is using one too.
