The "p" has an extra piece of metal on the hump. What is this called? IMG_20190322_095955_437.jpg IMG_20190322_105452_026.jpg

It's hard to tell from that image. Have you tried moving it (GENTLY!) with a toothpick?

Yes, I tried to see if it would come off. It is as solid as the "p". It appears to be attached to the "p".

    It's a capital "P".. Not a lower case "p"

Strange! I say that because the mintmark was incorporated onto the die almost 30 years before.

Can you take a new photo, as close as possible to the mintmark, making sure that the image is not blurry and then resize the photo?

    TIA

I will attempt to. I am not the best at this. Thanks!

I see damage at the bottom of the P,
and what looks like a light 'void' under
the crossbar of the P - (gotta look carefully
to see the difference in the fields there)

    I think it's a damaged mintmark;
it doesn't look like a die chip to me.

Where is the mint mark damage? It looks like an extra piece of metal. Where did it come from? The "P" looks complete.

look underneath the P, in the field
right below it. The surface appears
    to be 'disturbed' there.

It appears the extra metal came from
that area BELOW the P, and was pushed
    'up' to the P mintmark.

I'm saying this from your photos - I
don't have the coin in-hand to examine.

I did read that sometimes pieces of metal gets on the die and pressed onto the coin. I can't see anything with coin in hand. Thanks!
