well it looks like after the debacle of 2017 the US Mint has the following limits on the 2018 Mintage Limit: None Product Limit: None Household Order Limit: None Right now, the 2018's are on BACK ORDER. They were released on the 11th. I've bought them each year as potential gifts. But it looks like I have all the time this year to buy some, like I did in previous years except 2017 when they were gone in 60 seconds lol My 2016s I bought on 12/29/2016 lol Let's see what happens to them in the secondary market now.
The secondary mark they’ll crash. Maybe they’ll do okay right at the start but mintage limit none assures it’ll be a flop
on another note, I am looking forward to getting the Declaration of Independence Platinum coin. https://catalog.usmint.gov/preamble...oin-life-18EJ.html?cgid=2018-product-schedule
I'm sure it will. With no limit. I'm hoping it will keep the flippers away, and the ones I buy will once again be "limited" as in few people bought them, but I'll wait for the production reports later on. I'm also hoping to buy back the old ones once those prices crash back to earth. on eBay the pf70 2018's NGC slabbed are listed at $120 - 150, up to $250. pf69 are $70. let's see how those lower over time.
Last year's set had a rare limited edition silver eagle in them... that's why they sold out so fast and went up in value. There is nothing special about this year's set.
The US Mint has said that this year there will be both an S Mint proof and a W Mint proof, just like last year. Also like last year they will be released in more than one offering.
I'm getting sick of trying. I just ordered the WWI commems (proof and unc.). I didn't know they were going to release all of the medal sets at the same time. Couldn't they have spread things out a bit? That's one more thing I've got to forego.....
I’d guess the 70 will settle around 75-100 assuming it’s not some crazy low mintage when it’s said and done
Normally that would make sense. But why did the 2016, 2015, 2014 Congrats ASE skyrocket much more higher than the 2017 S ? FYI, even the 2013 Congrats was at $300 and higher for a while.
I don't know what the technical coin terms are for the mintage numbers, but compared to the mintage numbers for other ASE's, it is indeed one of the rarer ones.
The word rare means not found in large numbers and consequently of interest or value. Hundreds of thousands of anything disqualifies it as rare. You can say many other things and use many other terms, but this coin isn’t even among the 5 lowest mintages for silver eagles which means it’s not rare. The 95-W isn’t even rare, there are 5 of them for sale on eBay right now. Hence they are readily available. Funny thing is that the mintage of that coin is 1/4 of the 2017-S.
Hi Green. I knew you'd jump on this! I ordered the Navy and Air Service sets. I'm thinking about adding the uncirculated Silver dollar as well. Both my sets are on back order. I couldn't get to the site today until after work.
The 2017 set contained an S mint proof coin the 2018 set once again contains the regular W mint proof. As mentioned above the S mint proof ASE is listed as another product this year. There's also listed a 2018 San Francisco silver reverse proof set which could be interesting.
