I would like to get opinions on what everyone thinks happened to this coin. This is a NFIC coin. This coin is ungraded. Go ahead and put a grade to it. I want to grade it MS-60. I put up a couple pictures of each side. Some of the incuse lettering on the back looks doubled.

The US mint was selling rolls & bags of the "S" mint mark quarters. Looks like this may have got circulated somehow.

People that search the bags and rolls for examples worth grading generally just spend the left overs. Rarely is it worth the time and effort to try and sell them

I received the coin in a bag of S mint quarters from the mint. I have been buying the bags of quarters since 2014. This coin has never seen circulation. It is a mint state coin. I would have posted it in the error coin section, but, I don't know that it is an error. The coin is not even close to the quality of the other 99 coins in the bag. I have received a few weird coins over the years, but, nothing like this one.

The coin doesn't look weakly struck. I figured most of the planchet marks would disappear even with that much relief. I guess the cleaning people could have swept it along the floor and eventually picked it up and threw it in a bin. Something else happened. I thought someone else on here was buying the quarters also and may have seen another one.

I made up the NFIC. Meaning I didn't find it in circulation.

I think you might be right. It was a cull that got tossed back into a bin & then got packed in your bag. :shame:
