About halfway threw the line it's raised also at the end of the of the ear that little dot looking thing is his earlobe also the penny is still the same color and is smooth it doesn't seemed to be cut or smashed just curious on what others think
Lincoln was from Illinois, right? Maybe the August 2017 eclipse path? Right now, I'm going to say intentional damage with a pair of "tin snips". Stay tuned for a better guess. I might have guessed a "cheap pair of dykes", but since we had our national sense of humor amputated, we can't go there any more.
It's post mint damage (PMD) meaning it's not an error but deliberately done after it left the US Mint. Doesn't matter how or with what but probably tin snips as Kurt said. Someone had too much time on their hands.
I kinda figured that. Its just odd that it didn't change the color or cut through or even gave it some type of rough edge and how you can still see the letters clearly on the ONE even though it's cut or smashed and how its not a straight line lol like the snip done
Sadly, I'm beginning to put together a "Big Picture" of where this hobby is heading. We can correctly dismiss all the "post mint damage" cases we want. These self-absorbed little millennials (at least a VERY sizable chunk of them) are going to MAKE these PMD pieces "collectible" because nobody ever taught them that they don't get to redefine EVERYTHING in life. Heck, we have cow-towed to them so completely that we stood idly by, even APPLAUDING, as they "redefined" words that had a commonly accepted definition literally for MILLENNIA. And we think they're going to listen to us about COINS?!?!? Think again, guys. Many of them are NOT here to learn from us, they're here to bury us. Deal with it that way. It's not really the ones that find their way here that are so much the problem, it's those evil demon-spawn who MAKE YouTube coin videos. For some odd reason I can't fathom, millennials seem to trust what those morons say.
Kurt, I've never thought of that but it would be easy to create a collection of PMD coins. Inexpensive too. I could be creative and make some of my own. Interesting to say the least. Thanks for the idea but its something I'll have to think on. LOL
Sir, it is ALREADY showing up in recent years in actual ANA convention competitive exhibits. No exaggeration. I've had to deal with it. In a category with ONLY three entries, it took 3rd. But it ALSO won the "People's Choice" award for the ENTIRE SHOW. Amazing. "People" apparently want "schlock".
