Well I have went through about 10 rolls of the new Zincolns and it looks like they are going to be full of minor little errors like chips which I have found about 15 with a small chip on the E of ONE CENT way to go Philadelphia mint for your impeccable quality control lol. Also I am posting one of 2 that I have found in new shotgun rolls that I find strange and it has to be some sort of PMD because I cant think of anything in minting process that would cause it but it weighs 2.4 grams which is in tolerable limits, looks like road rash and it has little spots thats a rainbow color (doesnt show up in pics). My question is what do you all suppose could have happened between the mint and the company that put these in shotgun rolls could have happened to make it look like this...I know I know too many possibility's. I'll post the chip pics first then the road rash one 20174.jpg 20171.jpg 20172.jpg 20173.jpg

Simple.. Think of it this way.. Have you ever made pancakes?
If you make a pancake for yourself it will probably be smooth, fluffy and perfect since you took your time to make it perfect.. then all of a sudden all of your friends come over because they find out you make great pancakes. Now you need to make 100 pancakes really fast to feed them. Most will come out ok but the others will be undercooked, overcooked (burned). You will also have pancakes of different sizes and shapes (thinner and thicker, round and oval).. you just can't seem make that perfect pancake you made at first.. this is similar to what happens at a US Mint :wideyed:

I have seen this on a few rolls from 10 or 11. If the same rainbow markings as mine, (around the rim) mine are missing the copper in those areas. What is a shotgun roll?

A shotgun roll is a roll of regularly circulating U.S. coins which has been tightly wrapped with tamper-evident ends by a bank or minting authority. Although the term "shotgun roll" used to refer to a roll of double length and value, nowadays the double rolls are called "double shotgun rolls" and single, normal rolls are simply "shotgun rolls." Find out how many coins are in each type of roll of U.S. coins.

All the pictures of LIBERTY appear to be either MD or die deterioration, not DDO's.

i've been wondering what just exactly goes on down there at the mint - now i know - they're making pancake coins! what a GREAT analogy! - thinking about the mint process in this way has helped me be more forgiving! thanks for reminding me the mint folks are only human too!~
