this 2017 P looks very thick compared to the others. Does it look like a doubled die? The y seems thicker on the left side then the right as well
The Y does look thicker on the upper left. It could just be a shadow, but the T and Y both show notching at the lower right of the letters. This would be a good indication of doubling. What about the rest of the coin?
I think it’s just liberty. Would you like me to take photos of any other parts of the coin? Or any clearer photos of certain parts?
I believe there is a 2017 P DDO variety that has been found since mid 2017 @Rick Stachowski might help with info.
Looks like the one I found, not to long ago . Here's a full shot of LIBERTY, on mine . Here's the die crack on mine too .
Does it have some die chips, in the same area ? Because, I can only see the die crack with the scope, on mine ..
I see nothing to suggest the two coins are the same other than type/date/mint. That said, the OP has stated in another thread that he's been the discoverer of two "DDOs" of this date/mint (iirc) confirmed by Mr. Wexler. If true, my guess is he's simply looking for confirmation as opposed to assistance.
They all kind of look the same on wexler site . Since 2015 Coneca hasn't listed any Shield Cent . Last two years were to small to list, for them ..
I have discovered one from this year that Mr. Wexler confirmed and listed. This could be my second if I send it. Do you guys reccomend me doing so?
Any advice I've ever given here was as if it was my own money at stake. Even with something like this that isn't going to break anyone's bank, I still hesitate to do so simply because if wrong, I'd feel terrible. That said, while such single squeeze coins are not true "doubled dies" in the classic sense, it does appear to display characteristics of accepted single squeeze "DDOs". If I was a collector of such material, I'd ask myself what knowing for sure was worth to me and go from there. Best of luck with whatever you decide. Edit: my apologies for misremembering the number of discoveries.
