Hello there everyone. So I came across this 2017 penny and I'm wondering if this could be a possible double die or just machine. Also my B in LIBERTY looks more like an 8 kind of cool.
See the ring going around the coin next to the rim? That is an immediate marker for die deterioration.
I'm sorry I'm new at this and I've learn quite a lot here and I may sound dumb but what does die deterioration mean.
Die deterioration starts as soon as each coin is struck, the severity gets amplified after thousands of strikes.. Die deterioration is a worn out die. It causes a type of doubling DDD that a new collector sometimes confuses with a true Doubled die.
