Hallo all. Just wondering if anyone knows the actual mintage figures for this coin from the Mint. I have heard that it is now the lowest minted Gold Eagle ever. Do you know if this is true or not? thanks BTM
There's no mintage limit on these if I am right in reading the USMINT.GOV site. Seems like we won't know for a while yet. It's still 2017 after all.
Strange how (sometimes) the coins minted strictly for collector and investment demand that no one wants when they're being produced and are available direct from the mint become the most sought after in subsequent years due to their original unpopularity.
it was last week when I found out these were no longer for sale and after searching high and low I found one. I have seen prices at $3000 for this coin based on news this was a very low mintage coin. Anyone verify this? Took delivery today actually.
Proof of BU ?? The BUs are selling for $1345 (from Provident Metals) and $1575 from usmint uncirc. and Proofs about $1610 (from the USMINT) or $1550 online.
ahh .. I've seemed to have missed that one. I see on eBay one Burnished for $2150 and up. you might be on to something. I would check the mintage of previous years and their prices too just for comparison. APMEX seems to have a bunch of various years of burnished 1oz gold eagles.
Claw I can't believe we are the only two discussing this. I think folks will soon realize that this coin will be more than likely the lowest mintage Gold eagle ever produced thus far.
I actually never knew they had burnished gold eagles until this post. Had a head scratching moment there, and had to put the 2017 on my "list" now to get one. The hard part is .. is the price going to go up and stay up, or float back down over several years ? I think for most people 1oz gold coins aren't in their financial realm. It's a lot of money to put into one singular coin.
happy to hear it is on the list. Looking now it is very hard to find under 2K and I think it will be even higher very very soon.
We'll see. I was thinking of buying the 2009 Ultra High Relief 1 oz coin shortly. Those have been lowering in price lately separate from spot. I can find those !! for under $1800.
I got this from Coin News, maybe this is the lowest mintage AGE? http://www.coinnews.net/2017/06/01/2017-w-50-uncirculated-american-gold-eagle/ "The 2017-W $50 Uncirculated American Gold Eagle sold out by the first week of November 2017 after being available for only 5 months. Its sales figures as of November 5, 2017 was 5,800 which makes it the lowest mintage of its type. The previous low was 5,829 for the 2012-W $50 Uncirculated American Gold Eagle"
