2016 Roosevelt Quarter Anomaly

    First off, no, I don't think it's worth a fortune, but I am curious. To me (a novice for sure) it looks like a double die, though I doubt it. Any ideas as to how this can happen on just the last T? The rest of the coin shows no sign of it.

    You have to remember these are incuse letters. The two places under the crossbar of the T is actually erosion of the surface from a deteriorated die.

    Why only the T? Repetitive striking just caused that area to wear out first, no rhyme, no reason…imo…Spark

    Correct. Just Die Deterioration Doubling..

    BTW.. the correct Numismatic terminology is Doubled Die not double die.
