I got my Silver proof presidential coin set yesterday and while checking I found out that the "I" is completely missing and the "N" is partially struck. Here is a picture.

It's called poor production control at the US Mint. Here's one of mine. Don't feel bad. I didn't find this one until ten years later. When I would receive the mint or proof sets each year, I would just throw them in the closet unopened. I had boxes of unopened sets. For whatever reason, I decided to open this one......surprise! Ouch!

However, it might fetch a premium on ebay from error collectors.

I remember you asking about this last week. Questoned if coins were actually silver or came from silver mint set. It's kinda hard to tell from pic, which is it?I was thinking the latter

Seeing your Gerald Ford dollar reminds me.... Anyone else remember Chevy Chase's SNL Gerald Ford?

Is the silver mint set. It's so sad that they don't check for quality. Thanks for the info.

The Prez dollars in the Proof Set are not silver. Your Gerald Ford specimen appears to have been marred by a strikethrough. Quality control for some of the proof coins is not always perfect.

One of my 2005-S Silver Proof Sets contained a KS SQ that had a strikethrough over part of IGWT while my other 2005-S Silver Proof Set contained the KS SQ with the die gouge on the bison, FS-901 in the CPG.

The proof dime shown above in the 1977 Proof Set appears to have been damaged sometime after striking and probably carries no premium, but your Prez dollar with the strikethrough may have some added value to an error collector.
