Thanks Rick, you've been a big help in my searches. I have another coin (Ozark Riverways) that I would like your opinion on, but I would preferably like to post it on this thread or pm you if that's okay.
Jeez, I had a couple of stacks of Harpers. Looked at the windows, but didn't realize there were so many different listings for it. Wonder how many I possibly missed Nice find.
Meow thinks the shinier the coin, the harder to see the Doubled die. Meow found one a lot like it today too. Meow's second one. It almost takes an imagination to see.
Lol, don't feel bad Ty. Before I got a microscope, I was strictly (like a religion) using a loupe and swore on everything that I could see every single detail with it. There's no telling what was in that zip lock bag that I tossed back into circulation Very nice coin Meow, I like it! Here's the OR quarter Rick. Sorry if it's a little blurry.. Not much to compare to the examples on Wexler's site and I'm not sure if it's doubling or deterioration, but I've ran across a handful of examples that are questionable.
Wow, those look good. Meow has not found any of those. Those doubled die quarters are mostly P mints. But unfortunately Meow finds 90% of coins in rolls where Meow lives are D mints. Anyway, any find is a good find. Just more to add to the Cat hoard!
I think everyone at the Philadelphia mint is drunk -- so many errors compared to the minor amount that Denver has once in awhile.
For sure! Too bad Meow lives on the Denver side, so its that much harder to find even a P mint to begin with...………………..
Lol! That is so true, I seldom ever see any mistakes on Denver mint coins. I guess it's good that the P mint appreciates their brews, because I wouldn't be sitting here myself drinking and looking for doubling if it weren't for them
I hardly ever stumble across S mint coins, it's very seldom. I've found 3 proofs so far and a little bitty bag of S mint business strike coins that I've stuck aside. As far as P and D mint goes, P is way waaayyy more common in my area.
Unless you are looking for old half-dollar and dollar coins, there's not much to really expect to find from SF except an impaired proof which is like a four-leaf clover.
Meow has found 2 s mint proof quarters CRH. One many months ago, and one just last week. A 2005 Kansas, and recently a 2009 US Virgin Islands.
The only other OR quarters that I have to compare to are three that I sat aside to look at closer. Again, these are somewhat blurry due to wear on the coin. The doubling on these (if there is any) would be what would appear as an "extra rock" at the bottom of the cellar windows. I'll post the previous picture again so that they will all be side by side. Every 2 pictures is of one coin, these pics are of 4 coins total.
Theoretically if these were all to be true doubling, it would be as follows listed in order (based on the information on Wexler's website): WDDR-002, WDDR-006, Not sure about the 3rd coin (new variety/ damage?), and WDDR-006 again (or deterioration) for the 4th coin. Sorry about all of the pictures guys, I try to be as accurate as I possibly can be so that no one is like, "What am I looking for here".
