Was wondering if any of you ordered the 2014 Sac Dollar and found a bonus. Appears that some are missing the edge lettering. Can't wait to see the prices on these! This is not my coin. Photo from the net. 2014 missing edge lettering.jpg

That's the American way! Find a niche, exploit it and make a lot of money. If I had one I would do the same thing.

I feel so stupid. I ordered 10, sold 9 and didn't even bother to check the edge lettering! smack.gif

Isn't that a coin from the currency set the mint sold out of in 5 minutes?

With such a low mintage, I find it extremely difficult that the US Mint isn't doing this stuff on purpose to create interest in moderns.

I mean, everything about this coin was a goof in one way or another.

First, making it an instant Key Date with the Enhanced Uncirculated finish.
Second, mislabeling the release notice so that the general public just didn't know until it was too late.
Third, A Missing Edge Lettering Coin??

I hope everyone is paying attention that this coin appeared in the above pictured slab first, in a second & changed slab EU69 at the Great Collections auction, and lately in a third slab with another added tag line in the AAN-TV auction where it sold for $31,900 with Buyers' Premium. Why would a single coin appear in 3 different slabs from ANACS in a period of a month? And, would you not be suspicious of additional coins given the "same" coin sold on a Sunday in California, was reslabbed during the week in Colorado, & debuted on TV in Florida on Friday? I'm told the discoverer of this coin was a major submitter of bulk coins to ANACS. Since discovery coins usually occur in clusters within shipments, I am highly suspect of multiple coins!

How do you know it was the same coin?

Possibly multiple but there are such things as walk through service for same day grading.

Now, my opinion is that, yes, there are MEL coins and hopefully, I'll get one when mine arrive tomorrow.
