This looked different than the rest of the Quarters, in the many bank rolls I have looked through. As the lettering goes inward what would be some of the proper terms? For instance if it was a DDR would that be right?
That part of the design is incuse if I am not mistaken (meaning the opposite of raised). Which despite apparent notching, believe it or not, would make this coin mechanical doubling. Since the die would have raised features in this area, what would normally become a flattened part of the design in mechanical doubling becomes another set of raised features. A little bit confusing, I was completely fooled the first time I saw one like this.
i was thinking at first doubled stamped but then thought the rest would have to be the same. On these new coins is this seen a lot?
Rick you serious about the ear? Is it on the 2014? Well if so, I have to go through my arrowhead bottle of coins that I just dumped rolls into; pretty sure I saw one with the ear thing, thought it was nothing.......poop!!!!!! As to the incuse lettering, does this happen rarely? If so, wouldn't it make it like a new type of valuable error? I know, I am reaching LOL
always save the new stuff, never know what going to be found for DDOs & DDRs, mys from a 2013-P Perry's Victory, nothing has been found yet, for that 1, and I have 2 of them
