ANACS announcement: Missing Edge Lettering Goes to Auction! ANACS Certified Missing Edge Lettering Discovery Piece to be Sold by GreatCollections The discovery of an error 2014 D Native American Dollar brought front page news to the trade publications last week. The first known of its kind, this missing edge letter mint error is remarkable as only 50,000 of these Enhanced Uncirculated (EU) dollars were produced by the U.S. Mint, and none others have been found to date. The coin is certified ANACS EU69 and is currently available at auction through GreatCollections of Irvine, CA. ANACS Vice President, Paul DeFelice, expressed his excitement of the find, "We see new oddities regularly, but this is something special because it may be the only one ever found. The publicity has been excellent for ANACS and I'm very happy for the owner of the coin." Of the unique error, President/Founder of GreatCollections, Ian Russell said, "Since each coin has to be reviewed by the grading services as they are being graded (to determine whether the lettering is inverted or not), a large number of these have already been checked by default - it's likely going to be the rarest of all the Missing Edge Lettering modern dollars". Russell continued, "The coin is being sold unreserved with bidding to start at $1. Bidding ends on Sunday, February 8th." As of Monday evening bidding had exceeded $3200.
