    Hi All,
This stood out from the rest in a brand new roll from the bank. I noticed two white spots which looked like some sort of stain and a small black line across Lincoln's cheek in the center of one of them. I looked very closely and it appears to be missing a small layer on his IMG_0139.JPG IMG_0149.JPG IMG_0149.JPG cheek. I was thinking minor lamination error or something that happened to it prior to being put in the roll; it was in the middle of the roll and not an end coin. Please let me know what you think it is.....

One cent coins are not laminated, they are electroplated. In handling, the copper plating may have taken a hit, causing the plating to break away from the zinc core. I can't tell what actually may have happened to your coin as your pictures leave quite a bit to be desired.

Also understand that coins do not go directly from the presses into rolls. As they speed from the presses, they are dumped into giant hoppers and then sent to private contractors that dump the hoppers into their counting/rolling machines. There is quite a lot of banging and bumping among coins during all of this handling.

thank you for the reply and the info! i was thinking it may have happened during the process that you explained. I will try and get a closer/clearer picture in an hour or so. At first I thought it was a strike through but when you really look at it the plating is missing in that spot.
