  1. 2014 D Everglades Florida Quarter with extra 1 in date. Possible even the 4 but hard to see. The 1 looks obvious IMO.
    THANKS, Shelly
    Is this new error?

I don't think so. Something happened in the area in question to make it look like a phantom 1 but it is not. It was not struck that way.

  5. Seems offly coincidental to be right next to the 1 in the date.

Yes it is awfully coincidental.. But it's not a Mint Error nor variety of any kind

It's not raised. It's indented into the coin. Not a Mint error but damage that looks like a phantom 1.

There is a small but deeper gouge at the base of the phantom 1 and the metal was pushed up and to the left creating the notch on the top of the 1. This is what makes it look like a 1 but it's just damaged.

Also, the phantom 1 is not straight as it should be but it's angled which is impossible in the minting process.

Yah, because random digits float around the Mint all the time, just to fall on coins.
