Cool! An error. I'd keep it. I got one that had to go back. It has a nasty gouge and is covered with black something on the glove side. I hope I can get a new one and not just a refund.
I would imagine, while they are still in production, that wouldn't be done. If they melt the returns during this time, they just have to balance the total issued to make sure it reconciles with the limits authorized. Even the last production run doesn't have to balance perfectly.
Sorry, but I'm not seeing a "struck through". Could you possibly highlight what you believe to be struck through?
That's what I originally thought but the strings are raised, this is incused and my other coin does not have this. In my original post I showed my 2 coins on the left is the one with the incuse mark and on the right with out the mark. I know this is no big deal and not worth any premium if any just a nice find for the average collector.
Have you compared it to another? Have you compared it to the pics on the mint web site? I had questions about what I thought was an extraneous mark until I compared it to another coin and the mint pics.
I don't think it's part of the design, it's not on my silver dollar or gold and they all use the same design. It's not wide enough to be a string. I think it's either a struck thru or a scratch if it's incuse.
Either way, I personally would send it back and ask for a replacement. There is still time to do this while they're in production. I look at it as a defect and not the quality I paid for.
