I love stars! The best part about working as a cashier is that I would see these all the time, set them aside and ask the manager if I could exchange them one-for-one. The first time, got the weirdest stare-down but it ended up being a pretty common thing. Ended up with plenty of stars and small-portrait larger bills.
I wish I was more active in coin collecting when I was 16 and working the cash register. Of course, I haven't hit 30 yet so I doubt I've missed much in the way of silver, just lots of bills going unsearched.
I've recently got into collecting due to getting into retail...i have come across countless wheat pennies and a couple of mercury dimes but star notes is what i actively find and up until two weeks ago was selling for double face value to an avid collector..
