May 20 Coin World Die Variety note this very minor WDDO-001. Here what to look for RTY John noted it a very minor variety . «®»
Minor indeed. So much so that only an expert with a microscope will ever appreciate it. Now, I'm all for microscopes of the 10x-30x variety which I'm assuming that this coin was photographed with. But........if the variety is so minor that even a photograph with a microscope takes some study time to see it.........then.........
Let me rephrase myself then, I need to get a microscope because its getting harder to hunt rolls in the south; because they are issuing only shield backs ( new cents )....:too-cool-for: ya get what I'm saying?
Got it. I misunderstood you. You mean that you're only finding shield reverses while searching. Yeah, Cessna is an airplane. My other hobby.
That is bad as heck. I can't say the other word. We have a field here in Hazard, that is big enough for your type of plane.
I have not seen one in hand, but compare the photos with the LWC DDO 1909 Die #1 . It is very close in size and position and the 09DDO, has had a fairly good premium. With the use of single squeeze die production, this might be considered as a large spread for shield cents. If you know what you are looking for, I suspect one could spot it with a 7 or 10X lens.
I see little comparison between the 1909 DDO-001 and this 2013 DDO. Wexlers site shows much better photographs, http://www.doubleddie.com/894355.html which doubling which is not consistent with the 09. Granted, this IS a doubled die but it's very minor and I expect that it would be difficult to detect with a 5x or even a 7x loupe. A 10x microscope where the lighting can be controlled would be no problem. 1909 DDO-001: http://lincolncentresource.com/doubledies/1909VDBddo1.html
I agree, there is no comparison between these two cents. I am seeing nothing but extra thickness in the shield design dies. The 09 is a class IV DD. With a class IV the doubling is vey noticeable. These shield design doubles are going to be hard to spot and people are going to flood sites like these asking if the cent they have is THE ONE.
