2012 hawaii State quarter Double Die

    Found this 2012 quarter double die. Do you guys see it? is this actual double die?

    Could you get a clearer picture? Pretty blurry there. Try laying it down on a table instead of holding it.

    Unlikely a double die but........we need clearer pictures.

    i was under the impression the mint only presses the dies once now instead of multiple times? wouldnt that make double dies nearly impossible

    Double Die is an imperfection on the die itself, brought on by improper hubbing. In a case such as this the coin would be doubled with only one strike. Machine doubling could more than likely be the culprit here. The coin presses operate at such a high rate of speed that it is possible for a coin to be struck more than one time and possibly a bit off center.......

    There is definately doubling, but only because the coin was moving when the photo was taken. :rollling:

    green, if some members here at CT see that you referred to doubled die as double die, they'd near castrate you. :D
