I have found photograph examples of some 2011-W Reverse Proof American Eagles which are normal, and some photographic examples where the reverse appears to be rotated. The one example I saw depicts the reverse side of the coin at one o'clock. Have other people noticed their RP, reverse side with a rotation? I'm trying to get an idea of how many are out there. I'm waiting to get permission to post the rotation photo from the owner. Thank you.
I think it's okay to reference the photograph with the rotation. The photo can be found under the following thread, post#201. Contest for 25TH Anniversary Set Graded MS69/PF69 by NGC, See Rules Read more: http://www.cointalk.com/t195011-14/#ixzz1fVjG7nuw
I promised Dave three days ago that I'd get back to him on this subject. If it wasn't for you, posting in the contest thread, poor Dave still wouldn't have an answer. LOL
I've been watching for your reply for three days, Mr. Green. ;-) (Green, I hope you know I was just kidding you, I meant no disrespect.)
Ha _Ha ! Ken, I'm not some impatient whipper-snapper, I am old and retired and have all the time in the world. Dave
There were 100,000 sets issued, we covered four so far. How do we get an accountability from the general public that bought the coins from the Mint ? dave
I just submitted a Freedom of Information (FOIA) request to the Mint, but I don't know how many months it takes to get a response. I'll keep everyone posted, I got an email that my request has been received.
Ok so the reverse appears to have a small rotation. It appears to be within the mint specs to be considered normal.
None taken..... Since Dave has given his blessing to have the eagle in question added to this thread, I've taken the liberty of posting it for him.
Hi ! Condor101, Do you know what the specifications requirements are ? What is the normal allowance ? Thanks for you input, Dave
I believe that greater than 15 degrees would be considered "Out of Tolerance". The above photo appears to be about 3-5 degrees at most. If folks checked their personal sets, I'm sure they'd find equal and greater degrees of rotation. In other words, nothing unusual here.
Well, none o' mine have it so I think Dave might have a bit o' a conversation piece, to say the least.....
Maybe we'll see more when folks get their unopened boxes back from PCGS and NGC Dave. And maybe not...... Time will tell.
Very good point Ken, however the coin does not have to be graded (slabbed) to see the rotation. I am sure there are a lot of people who bought five sets, only to resell them. They should have no problem viewing their sets as is. Regards, Dave
Definitely so Dave, but we're not getting much in the way of responses by the guys that bought the raw sets and kept 'em with the intent of leaving them in ogp. Seems like a lot of folks that were buying these (this forum) were sending them in to have them graded and hopefully, when they get them back, they'll respond and post their results in this thread....
