I haven't posted recently due to time constraints, but I was going through change today and came across a 2010-D nickel. I don't know if anyone else has found one yet but I thought it was pretty cool since I have yet to see a 2009.
@cman- I just found a hot springs and yellowstone quarter both last week. I'm doing pretty good on the 2010 stuff. I've got one of everything except a half-dollar. Just found my first 2009 dime a month or so ago. Next day I found my first 2010.
Yeah, nobody seems to be picking those up. I figured a lot of people would save them because they are a "curiosity" just like a lot of first year coins. I've got a few bank rolls to save. Found a denver mint the other day. First one of those though.
The mint has been changing up designs a lot lately, and penny changes aren't new this year to boot. Maybe it's not such a curiosity anymore?
actually the penny has a new reverse this year. this isn't temporary like the '09's either, its permanent. no more memorial reverses! they are making a ton of them though. but yea, i got my first 2010 dime the other day. i also have got a few 2010 nickels and a ton of shield cents. all philly mints. still no state park quarters, i am sure they will be around soon enough. not really excited about them either, i mostly like older stuff and never collected the state quarters.
Well when i get my mint set I will have my 2010's because I havent seen squat around here (other than 1 2010p dime) and a BUNCH of 2010 Lincoln cents...or should I say shield cents
My point is that most people don't follow coin news, and probably don't realize this is an indefinite change.
Got One Got my first 2010 Jefferson in change this week. Have also gotten two 2010 dimes and now the shield cents are showing up by the handful. My 1st Jeff had great step detail.....except for the very small ?die crack on the rt lower step. Oh~and mine was a Philly~Mint.
Not indefinate (close though). I thought we were only stuck with it for 50 years (at a minimum). Kind of disappointing cause I don't like the design. I'll be nearly 70 by then......
can someone post a 2010 Jefferson with obv. shown as to my knowage Coin world posted a story early spring stating that no Jefferson MS nickels were to be minted this year. Only satin for mint sets and proof nickels again for proof sets only! The story went on to read that the feds had plenty of coinage in the system and would not be issuing any items that there was a surplus. The surplus came from most Americans dumping their coin jars , tins, banks or change cups etc... due to the recession. Coin star machines are many times filled and out of order not able to hold more coins turned in.
i will take a picture of the obverse in about an hour when i take the dog out. thats if nobody has already.
