Hey all. Just curious what this coin is. This looks like its a die chip with crack/gouge. It is in the Shield so It is not in the planchet. The planchet is the blank disc with a proto-rim formed in the upsetting mill, ready for the strike to form a coin. I think you mean the field. Everything raised are the devices the rest is the field.
Your images show the possibility of a die crack, but it could also be plating blisters due to the adhesion nature of the micro thin coating over the zinc core.

Meow thinks it looks like plating blisters or PMD. Pictures needed to be a bit better to say for sure.

@ARBIE SANTOS …All Zincolns proliferate with die chips, die cracks and plating issues. You have to consider the source: they were poorly designed and are now continuing to be poorly made. I’ve said this before: the real challenge is to find Zincolns that don’t have these defects and are strong strikes. Chips and cracks exhibit as rife die deterioration as well. Some years are more prevalent than others.
