Today i received an email stating that my order was on back-order, expected to ship 11-23-10. While this is only 5 days later than the original expected delivery, i was wondering if anyone else got a later date than me, or if this was a standard form letter? I wonder if this is just because of volume of orders or if other problems have come into play...any comments?
I have two separate subscriptions for Proof 2010 ASEs from the Mint. Each subscription was active since last year (the subscription rolls over to the next year, no Proofs last year, obviously) and both of my subscriptions sent the same (standard procedure for subscriptions) back ordered email messages. Received these updates today and my dates for both are 11/20/10.
how much are they each I have 5 comming and be nice to know how much I'm spending are they based on spot?
I believe proposed (TBD) price was $45.95 each. It could of course change per the Mint. Based on the Mint's own spread for buying the materials, various production, packagine, marketing costs, and profit margins for maintaining a profit... spot is of course in there somewhere, but you are also getting a presentation case, and all the designers and materials that went into producing, assembling and distributing those along with the coin and it's costs mentioned above.
I got a note that said I was on back order as well but it said my total is $91.90 with expected ship date of 11/24 so we'll see. I think I should get them since it had my total for the order and the expected ship date. Never had an issue getting my subscriptions before. I am wondering since the mintage might be fairly low if a lot of the cable coin selling networks have huge orders in for these and the true collectors will be left holding an empty bag... I sincerely hope not or I am going to be very upset. I will not go out and pay two or three times mint prices to get these thru a third party that rips people off.
I see nothing that indicates "the mintage being fairly low." Compared to what? Based on what? You might as well just plan on being upset because I doubt the mintage will be as low and every dealer and collector will be all over these. The spot price of silver is now over $28.50/oz. The Mint's set price in the back order messages we are receiving are $45.95, driving down that high Mint premium with the advance in silver in the markets. Let's hope there are no Mint pricing surprizes at the last moment. I doubt the spot price will deter buyers from the Proofs.
