I recently purchased a 100 count bag of 2009 Northern Mariana Quarters. ALL of them were satin finished. Is this a mistake or are all of these quarters suppose to be satin? TY
That is not a satin finish coin. It is a normal, poor quality coin from the Philly Mint. Thanks, Bill
all due respect, Bill, but how do you know for sure? The coin looks like it could be a bag-marked satin quarter. The luster surely seems subdued for the lack of wear.
I purchased 2-100 count bags from each P & D mints (from the USMint). When looking at the coins from the P mint they are "obviously", with the naked eye, ALL unusual. . . where-as, the D minted coins have the normal shine. I will scan both P and D coins together and post in a few here. Foundinrolls - I joined this site after looking at other ones because of the hopefully intelligent advise and comments received. From that information combined with various research. I will eventually use this information to make a logical determination as to what I may do with specific coins I come across, not that I believe all that is said, but some people do (like newbees like myself in this hobby) where fortunes, great finds, enjoyment and satisfaction in a new hobby can be destroyed. I am sure you are a respected numismatist but comments like that are... well encil: TY, TJ
What, in the world are you talking about anyway? You ask, you get opinions - that's what we do. If you do not want opinions or only want them tailored to your liking find someone who is co-dependent - they will agree with you "all the time"! I hope you stay around and am glad you are here but I suspect very new to the hobby. Please keep commin back but grow a little thicker skin, your gonna need it!
Mike, The coins look to have been photographed with a scanner... which always makes the luster look subdued. I think these are just the run of the mill type quarters.
