Ok fellow coin collectors with the New Year on the horizon, what release are you most looking forward to in 2009 and what would you like to see released next year from the U.S. Mint? At the top of my list: 1) Sacagawea Golden Dollar Coins with the new designs. 2) Presidential Dollar Coins (next four presidents). 3) Quarter Territories release (Did Congress approve that yet?)
Ive never bought any comlete proof or mint sets frome the mint, only the Presidential Proof Sets the last couple of years. This year I'm goingto buy a silver proof set, proof set, and mint set. There are several coins I want out of each.
I'm interested in seeing the proof Lincoln Cents. I understand the four designs depicting Lincoln's life are coming out this year. It's a given I'll buy two ASE's, but won't be able to get from the mint directly. I don't collect the burnished series, yet I have three NGC MS-69's (2007, 2008, 2008 w/ reverse of 2007).
A rainbow toned 1943/2-P Jefferson Nickel NGC MS66 or MS67. I don't know if I will find one this year, but if I do, bidders beware.
My wish list: (1) Lincoln stuff from the mint (2) Proof Lincoln cent 1936-1942 slabbed 64 or better (3) War War II nickel set, possibly slabbed (4) 1953 proof set to complete my little mini run. (5) Walking liberties . After a year of thinking about them, have not bought the first one yet. Did buy the book.
I wish for a good camera to post a coin or two. But no one here is knowledgeable enough to pick a good one out or even knows that I want one. SANTA, OH SANTA, where are you when I need you.---zg Can anyone recommend a good mid-ranged priced camera?
I'm going to try and hunt down MS 1924, 25, and 26 all from SanFrancisco. As red and strongest strike I can afford.
#1. Get closer to finishing my Classic Head half cents in XF/AU (probably can't finish them) #2. Get closer to finishing my Capped Bust half dimes in XF/AU (probably can't finish them) #3. Upgrade my War Nickels to a matched set (MS-67) except for the 1943/2. #4. Upgrade four Morgans to at least VF. #5. Acquire more early commemoratives.
From the Mint, well, I cant think of anything from the Mint that I'm looking forward to. For 2009, I'd like to finish my Half Dime collection, Walking Liberty Halves and find a nice 1877 IHC.
