I ordered two sets and want you all to know (if you ordered any yourselves) that I found a huge scratch on one of the Northern Mariana Islands coin to the right of the engraver's initials. You can see it with the naked eye.
Okay. What kind of "scratch" is it? Is it raised above the surface of the coin, meaning it's a die polish line or something similar, or is the coin actually scratched. If this is the case, exchange it for another set. The Mint will reimburse your postage.
I'm not sure about that. I thought under the new 7 days return policy they said they would no longer reimburse for postage. It doesn't say that in the PR on the mint's website but I thought I recalled it in the posting of the PR on a forum site. OK I got the impression from this thread http://www.cointalk.com/forum/t47904/ But it didn't say it in the PR, several forum members said they no longer reimburse for postage.
I'm calling it a "scratch" because I can't make anything out of it. Anyways, I e-mailed Alan Herbert about it and he responded that I should hold onto it in a off chance it could be a minting variety. I just wanted you to know. Thanks.
