What do you think about the 2009 P&D unc mint sets? Do the 4 bronze cents make them a good investment? I think this thread has been done before, but nothing recent popped up in a search, and it has been 2 years since they have been on the market. What would you pay for one? I have seen a spread from $20-$50+ with an average of 35 or 40.
I think both the 2009 and 2010 sets will be winners...eventually. There are too many distractions out there att. We need to give these sets some time to be "rediscovered". Once the Lincoln cent is discontinued, and that's gonna happen sooner rather than later (imho), that whole series will really take off! First, the wheats (1909-1940 then 1941-1958), then the copper memorials (1959-1982), then the rest. The 2009 Unc Copper set will become extremely popular...especially given the condition problems they're having (few premium examples will survive). It might take 10 years or more for this scenario to unfold...but unfold it must! :thumb:
I ran out an got 2 the last time I heard this discussion at the $32 price, and now they are up past that, but I found a company that has them listed for about half that, so I'm thinking about getting some again as everywhere else, including this company's larger site, has them listed for $37+
I've got three of these (2009) sets. One I bust out, one I open to enjoy the view, and the last remains sealed. Possible appreciation of these sets down the road? Yak makes a good assessment. Time is on your side with these issues.
With a lot of focus on the 5 ounce ATB bullion I think there are number of modern numismatic items that are flying under the radar right now, and the 2009 uncirculated set is one of them. TC
I'm thinking about trying to find some more of the 2010 silver quarter sets too...scared about what the mint is going to do to them...
I think these are sleepers too. Remember these didn't come out untill late in the year, after the hype of the roll sets and the proofs and I think people were "Lincolned out" by the time they were sold. I too have some put back, plus I bought about a dozen or so sets of loose cents from this set. To the OP you have to watch, some sellers I've seen advertise cheap prices on sets but they're only selling either the Philly or the Denver set for that price.
I agree with the assessments of the 2009 & possibly the 2010 set (depending on the final mintage), but let's not forget the 2008 set. The 2008 set price is already higher than either of the sets mentioned, since it contains the lowest mintage special examples of all the modern circulating coins. I figure all of the satin finish coins have potential.
