Yesterday I bought a used copy of the 2009 Standard Catalog of World Coins 1901-2000 from Abebooks.com It is supposed to be in good condition as it came from a library. Paid $8.13 which included shipping. Has anyone here bought the book and what did they think of it?

One h*** of a good deal!
Just about every serious collector of world coins has at least that volume, if not the full 5-volume set covering 1601-now. I generally replace my 20th/21st Century volumes every other year, and keep the older ones longer as there aren't many changes other than guestimates of value from one year to the next.

  4. Excellent deal! The book retails for $60 new. I have the 1901-2000 and the 2001-2008 issues. Eventually I will get all the issues of the series.

I don't really plan to buy new yearly issues of the 20th Century or older books. Unless they put it in color or add a lot more pictures. Eventually I will get more 21st Century books as new coins are issued, but I will probably only get a new example every five years or so.

Awesome deal, I love library sales. THe prices are off, like with the redbook. ALso, some varieties may be missing, but overall a great book.

I agree, an excellent deal. I have the 2007 edition and it is one of the best reference books I have.

I get each new edition as it comes out. I have all of the SCWC books all the way back to the first one in 1972. I have the CD-ROM's of the latest editions of the 17th, 19th, 20th and 21st century books plus the World Paper General Issues book and I have all of those copied onto my laptop. A lot easier to carry with me than 30 pounds of books. If I wanted to I could transfer all of it to one 4GB flash drive and then use it on any computer.

For some reason the 18th century book didn't have a CD-ROM with it (The CD-ROM's come with the books now when you buy them.) so I don't have that one yet. KP wants $50 for the 18th century CD, and $48 for the book.

After I got back from the MOON show there on my doorstep was my Catalog. Cover is wrinkled a bit and there are some library markings, but that was to be expected. It even came with the DVD!
