2009 sacagawea dollar reverse design shown on mint website. the designed is beautiful but doesn't carry out impressive theme on it. what's your comment?.
2009 Sacagawea reverse design .............actually i'm sorry to see the beautiful eagle reverse disappear!!!
I don't like the new reverse at all. I felt the eagle reverse was the one good thing this coin had going. I'm sorry to see it leave. Here is the artist rendering of the new reverse for those of you who haven't seen it, the theme is agriculture:
The whole thing is bizarre. The dollar program is a huge failure and they should quit while their ahead. Stop the Presidents with Lincoln, leave the Sac alone, and adopt the Subway Token for the new US Dollar
I can see the errors on ebay now. Extra leaf, extra stalk, extra seed, extra fringe. Missing leaf, missing stalk, missing fringe, missing seed. LOL :mouth: That's just downright silly to take the eagle off the reverse. What the heck are they thinking?? :headbang:
i like the flying bird on the reverse of the sac dollar and the standing indian on the obverse of the sac dollar.
2009 sac..................................... .............and let's not forget the added edge lettering!!!!!
That new design is basically OK in my opinion; will have to see what it looks like on the actual $1 coin. What I do not really like is the changes on the other side: The year and mintmark will be on the edge now. But will that side be redesigned accordingly? Apparently not ... Christian
date and mint mark should be located on the obverse. and it should be large enough for us to see. those were important part for the collectors. the rest of the design things is but secondary.
i like indian riding on a horse. indian shooting with his bow and arrow. indian head. indian with shotgun. beautiful indian woman. indian house like tepees. buffalo with indian. indian making fire with woods. indian women dances. colorful indian customes. and indian drum.
The new reverse design in one word to me is- AWESOME. The eagle is good but the new design is better. IMO the most beautiful US circulation coin since Walking Liberty halves.
I like the new reverses. The three sisters were an important part of native American heritage and culture....remember, many native American societies were matriarchal.
Only four? I don't think so ... "The United States Mint will prepare a timeline of events and personal contributions of Native Americans for the program until at least 2016. This timeline will be used to create candidate designs for consideration." http://usmint.gov/mint_programs/nativeAmerican/index.cfm Judging from the part of the quote that I emphasized, this is the first of 8+ designs.
